About

One team. Every discipline.

Creative Collective is a curated network of specialists for ambitious brands, led by one creative director and run by Influence Design Studio.

V. Creative Director

The best work I've been part of was never made by a department.

It was made by a handful of people who were each very good at one thing, chosen for that project, and pointed at the same idea. A strategist, a photographer, a writer, a developer — whoever the work needed, and nobody it didn't.

Creative Collective is that arrangement, made permanent. Around twenty specialists across eight disciplines, each independent, each someone I would hire first in their field. I'm the creative director on every engagement. What changes from project to project is everyone else.

01

Why a network, not a studio

A studio has to keep its people busy. That sounds like housekeeping, but it shapes the work: the brief arrives, and the answer tends to look like whoever is free. The team that makes brand films makes you a brand film, whether or not a film was the answer.

A network has no bench to fill. Every project starts with the question of who it actually needs — and then those people, and only those people, are in the room. The team for a foundry's documentary and the team for a museum's website share a creative director and almost nothing else. That's the point.

02

Why curated, not open

There are plenty of places to find a freelancer. They solve a different problem. An open marketplace gives you a thousand portfolios and leaves the judgement to you; a collective is the judgement.

Everyone here is someone I've worked with, or watched work, and would put in front of a client without being in the room myself. It stays small — around twenty people — because that is roughly how many I can know well enough to say that about. People join by invitation, and the test never changes: are they the person I'd call first?

03

Why one creative director

Specialists are, by definition, not responsible for the whole. Someone has to be. Every engagement runs through me: I take the brief, build the team, set the idea the work hangs on, and stay accountable for it until it ships.

That isn't a bottleneck; it's the offer. You get one conversation, one point of view, and one person whose name is on the result — with a different, exactly right team behind it each time.

The studio behind it

Influence Design Studio

Influence Design Studio is the reason that working with twenty independent people feels like working with one company. It holds the contracts, runs the schedules and the budgets, manages each project day to day, and looks after the collective's own brand.

Clients sign one agreement and receive one invoice. Collaborators get to do the work they're good at, and none of the work they aren't.

How it works

One conversation, then the right people.

  1. 01

    You send the brief

One form, and it comes straight to me. There's no account team to get past, and no way to book a collaborator directly — by design.

  2. 02

    I build the team

Usually three to five people, chosen for this project and no other. You'll know who they are and what each of them is there to do.

  3. 03

    One team delivers

I lead the work from the first conversation to the final file. Influence Design Studio runs everything around it: one contract, one schedule, one invoice.
