Vela — Motion Design, 2025
The Reveal
A motion system built on one behaviour — a single line opening into the frame — and used unchanged from cinema idents to pitch decks. The decision not to animate anything else was the design.
Motion Design
One move, done properly.
Derik T. is a motion designer who treats animation as a last resort and restraint as a creative act. The work is systems rather than showreels: a single behaviour, defined precisely, that a brand can use for years.
A decade in broadcast design came first — channel idents, title sequences, a great many swooshes — followed by a deliberate move towards doing less. Derik now spends most of a project deciding what shouldn't move.

Tessel — Motion Design, 2025
Choreography for an all-CGI launch film. The speaker comes apart along one axis, holds, and returns — one move, sixty seconds, no camera tricks.
Independent Work — Conference Titles, 2024
Ninety-second opening titles for a design conference, built on one rule — every shape enters from the left and leaves by the right — and played on a forty-metre stage screen.
Independent Work — Broadcast, 2023
Twelve idents for an arts television channel: one ribbon of colour, folding differently each time. On air for three years.
Within the Collective
Derik typically leads the motion layer of an identity — how a mark arrives, how a page changes, what a brand does when it moves — and any film where the design is doing the performing. Derik works with V. to find the one behaviour worth building, and with the collective's 3D artists and sound designers to make it feel inevitable.
All project enquiries are handled by Creative Director V. through Influence Design Studio.
