Kendel B., Creative Technologist

Creative Technology

Kendel B.

Build it to find out what it is.

Kendel B. is a creative technologist building interactive pieces, WebGL experiments, and installations. Kendel prototypes quickly, on the principle that the fastest way to find out what an idea wants to be is to make a bad version of it by Friday.

Self-taught, by way of a physics degree and a great many abandoned side projects. Equally happy in a browser, a gallery or a box of wires.

Selected Work
The Cabinet — children and adults reaching across a glowing gallery table showing a giant green beetle

The Cabinet — Creative Technology, 2026

Down to the Scales on a Wing

Built the viewer for a museum's online collection — a continuous zoom from a whole drawer of specimens down to the scales on a single wing — and the long table in the gallery that runs the same software at the scale of a room.

Tessel — exploded view of the speaker, its parts floating in a line on blush pink

Tessel — Creative Technology, 2025

Pull It Apart Yourself

Took the 3D model from an all-CGI launch film into the browser. On the product page the speaker comes apart under your own hand, in real time — the same parts and the same move as the film.

Murmuration — a figure reaching up beneath a vast suspended cloud of tiny lights in a dark gallery

Independent Work — Museum Commission, 2024

Murmuration

A permanent installation for a science museum's entrance hall: eight hundred points of light that flock away from whoever walks in, and slowly come back.

Tide Clock — a slim brass rod mounted on a white wall carrying two overlapping discs of blue glass, their shadows falling across the wall

Independent Work — Harbour Authority Commission, 2023

Tide Clock

A public clock for a harbour office, driven by live tide-gauge readings: one brass arm, showing nothing but the height of the sea.

Within the Collective

Kendel typically leads anything interactive — installations, WebGL, exhibits, the parts of a website that respond — and is brought in whenever an idea needs to be tried before it can be judged. Kendel works with V. on what the experience should feel like, and with the collective's interface designers and developers to get it out of the prototype and into the world.

All project enquiries are handled by Creative Director V. through Influence Design Studio.
